As a Model Behavior Tutor specializing in Social Cognition and Emotional Intelligence at xAI, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing Grok's ability to interpret and respond to emotional and social cues with precision. xAI is dedicated to developing AI systems that accurately comprehend the universe and assist humanity in its quest for knowledge. In this role, your primary responsibilities will include detecting and interpreting implied emotional states, attachment styles, and unspoken needs. You will teach models appropriate mirroring, boundary-setting, defusing, challenging, or comforting techniques. Additionally, you will identify and correct emotionally tone-deaf responses in AI-generated outputs, build datasets exposing dark-pattern social tactics to ensure Grok remains immune, and ensure cross-cultural sensitivity without performative overcorrection.
The ideal candidate will have direct clinical experience with diverse populations, including those with trauma, PTSD, personality disorders, and neurodivergence. Expertise in attachment theory, polyvagal theory, mentalization, or equivalent frameworks is essential. A demonstrated ability to read subtext and calibrate responses in high-stakes therapeutic or educational settings is required, along with familiarity with DSM-5 diagnostics and evidence-based interventions such as CBT, DBT, and trauma-focused modalities. A strong ethical grounding and understanding of scope-of-practice boundaries are also necessary.
Compensation for this position ranges from $40 to $70 per hour, depending on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, geographic location, and qualifications.
