As a Model Behavior Tutor at xAI, you will play a pivotal role in refining the linguistic and stylistic quality of Grok's responses. Your primary responsibilities will include ranking and rewriting outputs to ensure stylistic excellence, voice consistency, and aesthetic impact. You will curate training data from high-quality writings across literature, essays, technical expositions, and historical texts. Additionally, you will work to eliminate clichés, corporate jargon, verbosity, and low-status signaling, teaching the model when brevity is elegance and when controlled extravagance is warranted.
The ideal candidate will have professional experience in academic editing or copywriting, with exquisite aesthetic judgment and the ability to immediately recognize “cheap” versus “expensive” prose. A broad and deep reading background in literature, philosophy, science writing, and classics is essential. Proficiency in reviewing and critiquing written materials, strong skills in content organization, narrative enhancement, and emulating various styles and voices are required. Ruthless self-editing instincts and the ability to utilize reference materials, style guides, and resources for accurate, standard-adherent annotations are also necessary.
Compensation for U.S.-based candidates ranges from $45 to $70 per hour, depending on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, geographic location, and qualifications.
