[PIPELINE] Senior Software Engineer - Backend
Marqeta is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing scalable software that powers Marqeta's backend services, contributing to our mission as a leader in modern card issuing. You'll collaborate with diverse stakeholders across the company, creating and reviewing engineering design documentation, improving systems and processes, and mentoring other engineers.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, your key responsibilities will include defining and delivering well-scoped project milestones, potentially serving as a technical lead. You'll actively consider customer needs, leveraging input from product stakeholders to determine optimal technical solutions. Your day-to-day work will involve writing clear, efficient, and adaptable code, identifying and addressing system gaps, and leading the design of components and features.
The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience as a backend engineer with a Bachelor's degree, or 3 years with an advanced degree. Proficiency in Java, experience with cloud environments (preferably AWS), SQL, microservices architecture, and distributed systems are essential. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to navigate technical complexities, and effective communication are also required.
Marqeta offers a competitive base salary ranging from CAD 116,000 to 145,000, along with annual bonuses for eligible employees.
