[PIPELINE] - Software Engineer II - Canada

Marqeta is seeking a Software Engineer II to join its Core Platform Engineering team, responsible for developing and managing the platform that enables customers to launch and manage payment card programs. This team collaborates with card networks and issuing banks to issue cards, authorize transactions, and communicate with settlement entities. The role is available for remote work within British Columbia or Ontario, Canada.

In this position, you will design, develop, and deliver high-quality products, focusing on creating testable, scalable, and reliable systems that simplify processes for both the company and its customers. Responsibilities include prioritizing and shipping features aligned with the roadmap, mentoring other engineers, and participating in on-call coverage to ensure system reliability.

Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience as a backend engineer and a Bachelor's degree, or an advanced degree with no relevant experience. Proficiency in Java and/or Python, experience with relational databases, and the ability to navigate technical complexities are required. A collaborative approach, humility, empathy, and a desire for continuous learning and growth are also essential.
