Principal AI Engineer – Automation & AI
The Principal AI Engineer – Automation & AI at eClinical Solutions is a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, building, and deploying AI-powered automation solutions across the organization. This role emphasizes active development, with approximately 70–80% hands-on involvement, and operates within a small, high-output team of 2–4 engineers. The engineer will collaborate directly with the Chief Technology and AI Officer (CTAO) and business leaders to identify high-value use cases and rapidly translate them into production-ready AI systems.
Key responsibilities include designing and deploying agentic AI workflows and automation solutions across various enterprise functions such as R&D, Engineering, Professional Services, IT, Finance, Sales, and Marketing. The role involves building production-grade systems like multi-agent workflows, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) applications, document intelligence and summarization pipelines, and workflow and process automation solutions. Utilizing modern AI tools and frameworks, the engineer is expected to rapidly prototype, validate, and deploy solutions within weeks.
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field, along with 6–10+ years of software engineering experience, including recent hands-on work in AI and large language model (LLM) systems. Candidates should have proven experience in building and deploying LLM-powered applications, agentic workflows, and automation solutions in production environments. Proficiency in Python, API development, system integration, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is essential.
