Principal Software Engineer, Trading Platform (Java/C++)
NinjaTrader is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our Trading Services team, focusing on the design and optimization of our core trading infrastructure. As an industry-leading trading platform and futures broker, NinjaTrader empowers traders with cutting-edge products and services to navigate global financial markets confidently. This role is pivotal in scaling and enhancing our low-latency trading system to support rapid growth in the retail futures trading space.
In this position, you will design, develop, and optimize Scala-based trading services for high-volume, 24x7 environments. You will lead architectural strategies to ensure scalability and performance optimization, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, operations, and security teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. Additionally, you will enhance system monitoring for real-time trade execution and ensure compliance with security policies and regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with extensive experience in high-performance, high-concurrency distributed trading systems. Proven expertise in JVM performance tuning, support for 24/7 production systems, and deep knowledge of networking protocols are essential. Proficiency with CI/CD tools, strong troubleshooting skills in high-pressure environments, and excellent communication abilities are also required. Experience in Java, Scala, Rust, C++, or functional programming languages within exchange or trading environments is highly valued.
The salary range for this role is $195,000 to $220,000 annually, with an additional annual target bonus of up to 15%, based on individual and company performance.
