Production Risk Engineer - Lawyers Professional Liability
Counterpart is seeking a Production Risk Engineer to join our risk engineering team, focusing on Lawyers Professional Liability (LPL) products. This role involves underwriting and expanding our LPL book of business, which includes Errors & Omissions (E&O), incidental General Liability (GL), and related professional liability coverages tailored for modern law firms. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering, design, data, and operations teams to develop insurance products that brokers are eager to promote to their clients.
Key responsibilities include achieving and exceeding underwriting performance and revenue goals for the LPL segment, pricing accounts competitively and in accordance with company guidelines, and managing quote-related communications with brokers. The role also involves collaborating with the Director of Lawyers Professional Liability and the underwriting team to understand complex account exposures, providing market feedback to improve terms and coverage structures, and supporting the development of underwriting guidelines and rating logic specific to LPL classes. Additionally, the Production Risk Engineer will engage with assigned brokers to maximize quote-to-bind efficiency and represent Counterpart at industry events.
The ideal candidate will have 3–7 years of underwriting experience in Lawyers Professional Liability or closely related professional liability lines, along with a network of brokers, carriers, underwriters, or clients in the professional liability insurance space. Expertise in specialty liability products, including rating procedures, policy forms, applications, and coverage endorsements, is essential. Strong skills in engaging with brokers to establish long-term, profitable partnerships, confidence in presenting to stakeholders, and a proven track record of exceeding sales and account management targets are also required. A college degree with relevant work experience of 4+ years is preferred.
