Public Sector Contract & Partner Strategy Lead
The Public Sector Contract & Partner Strategy Lead at Axon is responsible for designing and leading strategies that facilitate scalable procurement and partner-driven growth within the U.S. public sector. This role involves optimizing state and cooperative contract portfolios, activating high-impact commercial partnerships, and proactively addressing procurement challenges for new products. The position is integral to Axon's mission to protect life by enhancing market access and accelerating revenue growth.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing forward-looking state and cooperative contract strategies aligned with go-to-market priorities, anticipating procurement needs 12–18 months in advance, and establishing necessary vehicles ahead of revenue timelines. The role also involves leading negotiations for new and expanded contracts, managing strategic relationships with cooperative purchasing organizations, and tracking contract utilization to identify opportunities for optimization. Additionally, the lead will operationalize new commercial partnerships by designing revenue activation plans and establishing pathways to secure initial deals, as well as proactively identifying and removing procurement, contracting, and regulatory barriers that could delay the adoption of new products in state and local markets.
Candidates should possess at least 7 years of experience in public sector strategy, government contracting, channel or partner strategy, business development, or sales operations within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. Demonstrated success in designing and executing strategies that expand market access and accelerate revenue growth is essential. Experience in operationalizing commercial partnerships or resell models, balancing legal, financial, and commercial considerations in negotiations, and influencing senior stakeholders to drive cross-functional alignment without direct authority is also required. An analytical mindset with the ability to assess performance metrics and refine strategies based on data is crucial. A deep understanding of public sector procurement, including statewide master contracts and cooperative purchasing organizations, is a plus, as is experience in government technology, SaaS, or public safety technology.
