Safety Lead
AirTrunk is seeking a Safety Lead to oversee health, safety, and risk management for development projects in Tokyo, Japan. This role is integral to fostering a safety culture within the organization and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards. The Safety Lead will collaborate closely with the Development team to implement best practices and drive safety excellence across all project phases.
Key responsibilities include embedding safety as a core value in project execution, mentoring general contractor management and staff to achieve optimal project outcomes, and assisting in structuring construction contracts to deliver safe results. The Safety Lead will champion the safety culture by engaging with management, contractors, and staff at all levels, implementing initiatives that embed safety throughout the business. Additionally, the role involves implementing workplace health and safety policies, monitoring industry and regulatory changes, and supporting the continuous improvement of the safety management system.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in a safety role within high-hazard industries such as construction, oil and gas, mining, or processing plants, with critical environment experience being highly regarded. Proven knowledge and experience in EHS, development and implementation of safety management systems, and conducting audits and inspections are essential. The candidate should possess detailed knowledge of risk management strategies, experience in root cause analysis investigations, and the ability to implement corrective actions. Fluency in Japanese and English, both written and spoken, is required, along with strong communication and data presentation skills.
