Security Engineer, Detection & Response - Monitoring & Triage

The Detection and Response Team (DART) at Block is responsible for identifying, investigating, and responding to threats across the company's diverse technological landscape, including endpoints, cloud infrastructure, identity systems, SaaS platforms, vendor environments, and products. As a Security Engineer specializing in Monitoring & Triage, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding Block's systems by managing security alerts and leading investigative efforts.

In this role, you will oversee daily security intake from various sources such as alert queues, internal communication channels, and direct escalations from teams across Block. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough investigations into security events, encompassing endpoint detections, cloud and SaaS alerts, malware incidents, supply chain issues, and direct unauthorized activities. You will analyze data across multiple platforms to build timelines, assess impact, and determine the scope of incidents.

The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in detection and response, incident response, or security engineering. A strong investigative acumen across various security signals, including endpoint, identity, cloud, SaaS, network, and application security, is essential. Proficiency in AWS and Kubernetes security fundamentals, cloud-native logging, networking, and Linux systems is required. Experience leading end-to-end incident responses, including scoping, containment, evidence collection, impact assessment, and stakeholder communication, is also necessary.
