Security Engineer - Platform Security
xAI is seeking a Security Engineer to join its Platform Security team, focusing on developing advanced security solutions for the company's Kubernetes-based infrastructure and AI-driven systems. The role involves designing and implementing AI-powered security tools, proactively addressing vulnerabilities, and promoting secure engineering practices throughout the organization. Ideal candidates are passionate about innovation, excel in writing clean, efficient code, and thrive in fast-paced environments.
Key responsibilities include designing and building AI-driven security tools using Grok to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in platform infrastructure and customer-facing applications. The engineer will proactively identify security issues, owning their design and implementation end-to-end, and collaborate across the organization to drive technical decisions and champion security best practices.
Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in dynamic, high-impact environments, preferably in startups or tech-driven companies. Proficiency in Python, Rust, or Go is required, along with strong problem-solving skills and a focus on clean, efficient code. Preferred qualifications include certifications such as CISA, CRISC, CGEIT, Security+, or CASP+, experience in building scalable tools or systems from scratch, and familiarity with security testing frameworks like Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, SAST/DAST. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for deploying and securing containerized applications, as well as knowledge of software supply chain tools, including SBOM management and dependency scanning, are also desirable.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $180,000 to $440,000 USD, along with equity options.
