Senior AI Research Scientist
Axon is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior AI Research Scientist to join our AI team, focusing on applications in Large Language Models (LLMs), Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs), Computer Vision, and Generative AI technologies. This role is pivotal in advancing state-of-the-art AI solutions for law enforcement and beyond, contributing to Axon's mission to protect life and accelerate justice.
The successful candidate will own key technical areas across the LLM, MLLM, and Computer Vision product portfolio, providing technical leadership to junior scientists and guiding the transition of research concepts into impactful product features. Responsibilities include researching and developing cutting-edge techniques in AI across cloud, devices, and sensor-based data sources, designing efficient and scalable models for multimodal data analysis, and optimizing algorithms for performance and energy efficiency. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to leverage hardware accelerators and evaluate model performance using real-world datasets is also essential.
Candidates should possess a PhD in Computer Science or a related field with a focus on AI, along with over 5 years of experience for ML Scientist roles, over 8 years for Senior ML Scientist roles, and over 10 years for Principal ML Scientist roles. A proven track record of research excellence in LLMs, MLLMs, Computer Vision, Robotics Perception, or Generative AI is required, demonstrated through publications in top-tier conferences or journals. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C/C++, experience with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch, and familiarity with robotic operating systems are essential. Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and effective communication abilities are also necessary.
