Senior Android Engineer
Compass is seeking an experienced Senior Android Engineer to join our dynamic team in New York City. As a key technical leader, you will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to develop innovative solutions that enhance the home buying and selling experience. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and ownership, allowing you to drive projects from conception to completion within a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
In this position, you will be responsible for understanding product requirements and translating them into manageable components for the team. You will lead the development of complex projects, ensuring technical decisions are pragmatic and well-reasoned. Your day-to-day activities will include performing code and design reviews, writing high-quality tests, and advocating for efficient, scalable, and extensible solutions. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers, fostering their technical growth and adherence to best practices.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, along with over nine years of professional Android development experience using Kotlin. Proficiency with modern Kotlin development practices, such as Jetpack Compose and Flow, is essential. Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, a deep understanding of Android design patterns, and a keen eye for design and attention to detail are also required. Experience leading projects from planning to release and mentoring junior engineers is highly valued.
Compass offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $131,000 to $197,000, with potential bonuses and restricted stock units.
