Senior Backend Engineer II
LeafLink is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer II to join our team and contribute to the development of our financial services platform. This role focuses on building and evolving backend services that support payment workflows, transaction processing, and integrations within the cannabis industry. As a key member of our engineering team, you will collaborate closely with product managers and other engineers to design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure backend systems that enhance our marketplace.
In this position, you will be responsible for designing and building backend services that support financial workflows and transaction processing. Your day-to-day tasks will include collaborating with product and engineering teams to design scalable system solutions, contributing to architectural discussions, writing maintainable and well-tested code using Java and modern JVM frameworks, improving system reliability and performance, building and maintaining APIs for internal and external integrations, refactoring legacy systems, troubleshooting production issues, and participating in code reviews to uphold strong engineering standards.
The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience as a backend engineer in a production environment, with strong expertise in building backend services using Java and modern JVM frameworks. Experience in designing APIs and service-oriented systems, working with relational databases and large datasets, and possessing strong debugging and problem-solving skills are essential. Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes, and experience in regulated industries like financial services or cannabis are advantageous.
LeafLink offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $145,000 to $190,000 USD.
