Senior Data Scientist
Cohere Health is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our growing data science team within the technology organization. This role offers the opportunity to make a substantial impact on the company with rapid growth opportunities. The successful candidate will work closely with clinical program and product teams to support decision-making and address a wide range of strategic and clinical problems.
The Senior Data Scientist will drive strategic data science initiatives that directly impact our product roadmap and business outcomes while working as part of a cross-functional team. Responsibilities include taking ownership of data science milestones, gathering requirements, identifying risks and opportunities with various data sources, and leading in-depth analyses of healthcare and product data to enable data-driven decision-making. Additionally, the role involves mentoring junior data scientists, conducting code reviews, presenting information using data visualization techniques, and designing causal inference analyses using healthcare claims and EHR data.
Candidates should have over 5 years of hands-on data science experience in a healthcare analytics company or population health organization, with demonstrated leadership experience influencing product strategy and business outcomes. Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and vice versa. Proficiency in current modeling approaches, intervention-based analysis, causal inference, and pattern detection is required, along with experience in data mining, building models, creating algorithms, and running simulations. Familiarity with graph databases managing clinical concepts, prompt engineering with LLM, and programming languages such as Python, PySpark, Scala, and Spark SQL is also desired. A strong interest and understanding of EMR data, claims, and SDOH data are important, and experience with data visualization tools like Tableau and Kibana is preferred. An MSc or higher degree in data science, analytics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field is required.
This fully remote position offers a salary range of $125,000 to $155,000 annually, as part of a total benefits package that includes health insurance, 401(k) with company match, flexible spending and health savings accounts, up to 184 hours (23 days) of PTO per year plus company holidays, up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave, and pet insurance.
