Axon is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join the SkyHero Firmware team within the Robotics New Ventures Pillar. This team focuses on developing advanced drone technology for Special Forces and Law Enforcement, providing tactical reconnaissance and support during critical missions. The role is based in Brussels, Belgium, and follows a hybrid work schedule, emphasizing in-person collaboration to foster innovation and teamwork.

In this position, you will be responsible for architecting and developing high-performance, low-latency user-space daemons on embedded Linux systems, specifically tailored for drone flight operations. Your work will involve integrating sensors and actuators, implementing complex algorithms for advanced flying and maneuvering capabilities, and collaborating closely with controls and vision engineers. Additionally, you will author design documents, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices for software testing and development.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, along with a minimum of 7 years of industry experience in building commercial products. Proficiency in C/C++, Rust, and Python is required, as well as a strong understanding of systems architecture, operating systems, concurrency, and networking concepts. Experience with embedded Linux development, sensor integration, and robotics frameworks such as ROS2 is highly desirable.
