Canva is seeking an experienced employment lawyer to join its dynamic global legal team as a Senior Employment Counsel for the EMEA region. Based in London, this role reports to the Lead Employment Counsel and provides regional support to Canva's growing workforce across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment within a company that is redefining how the world experiences design.

The Senior Employment Counsel will work closely with the Lead Employment Counsel and the Global Employment Counsel Team to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach to delivering employment law services in the region. Key responsibilities include providing day-to-day advice on a broad spectrum of employment law issues, such as performance management, disciplinary outcomes, grievances, employee equity, executive compensation, benefits, contingent workers, global mobility, mergers and acquisitions, and international expansion. The role also involves preparing and negotiating various employment-related agreements, leading complex and time-sensitive projects, supporting and managing employee disputes and litigation, developing and maintaining internal resources and templates, contributing to the development and review of workplace policies, liaising with external counsel in the UK and other jurisdictions, and supporting Canva-wide learning initiatives by delivering training on employment-related topics.

The ideal candidate is admitted to practice in England and Wales and has over five years of post-qualification experience in employment law, gained within a respected law firm or in-house organization, preferably representing or working at rapidly growing international technology companies. A strong understanding of employment laws and issues across Europe and the EMEA region, with the ability to apply that knowledge pragmatically in a commercial environment, is essential. The candidate should possess good judgment, a collaborative and flexible approach to problem-solving, the ability to communicate complex matters effectively, and a sense of ownership with a 'can do' attitude to navigate stakeholders and drive projects forward.

Canva offers a range of benefits to support employees' success both inside and outside of work. These include equity packages to share in the company's success, an inclusive parental leave policy supporting all parents and carers, an annual Vibe & Thrive allowance to support wellbeing, social connection, and office setup, and flexible leave options that empower employees to take time to recharge and support personal commitments. The company fosters a culture of inclusivity and collaboration, providing opportunities for growth and development within a rapidly expanding global organization.
