Senior Infrastructure Engineer
KoBold Metals is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to collaborate with exploration and engineering teams in building reliable, scalable infrastructure that transforms data and models into actionable exploration insights. This role focuses on enhancing observability, streamlining MLOps workflows, and maintaining shared tools like JupyterHub to facilitate faster experimentation and collaboration. The position is remote, with candidates required to be legally authorized to work in specified countries.
Key responsibilities include designing, building, and operating scalable and reliable compute infrastructure to support critical services. The engineer will work closely with engineering teams to embed observability, reliability, and security throughout the software development process. Additional duties involve creating and maintaining automation for monitoring, deployments, and incident response, as well as leading or supporting capacity planning, performance reviews, and system tuning to ensure stable and efficient systems.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or in a similar role. Strong scripting and programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript/Node.js are essential. Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker, and cloud platforms such as AWS is required. Familiarity with operating or administering JupyterHub in a multi-user environment and understanding MLOps workflows, including model training, deployment, and related tooling, are also important.
The US base salary range for this full-time exempt position is $170,000 to $230,000. KoBold Metals offers a remote-first workplace, with candidates required to be legally authorized to work in one of the following countries: United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa, United Kingdom, Zambia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Namibia, Finland, Sweden, or Botswana.
