Senior Machine Learning Engineer - Inspire & Create (AU Remote)

Canva is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Inspire & Create team within the Canva Grow product group. This team focuses on integrating creativity, data, and insights to enhance advertising experiences, aiming to help businesses create effective and engaging ads. The role offers flexibility, allowing for remote work within Australia, with options to work from Canva's campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, or co-working spaces in other cities.

In this position, the engineer will be responsible for building, testing, and deploying machine learning-powered features that improve ad generation experiences. Key tasks include designing scalable ML pipelines in collaboration with platform teams, conducting experiments to validate assumptions and enhance model effectiveness, and contributing to shared ML infrastructure and best practices. The role also involves staying updated with state-of-the-art developments and exploring their application at scale.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled machine learning engineer with a proven track record of delivering ML-powered product features in production environments. Required qualifications include proficiency in Python and frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch, expertise across the ML lifecycle—from data processing and model training to evaluation, deployment, and monitoring—and experience with Generative AI technologies such as LLMs, diffusion models, prompt engineering, RAG, or fine-tuning. Familiarity with GenAI platforms like OpenAI, Hugging Face, or Anthropic is also desirable.
