Senior Machine Learning Scientist
Axon is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Scientist to join its AI team, focusing on applications in Large Language Models (LLMs), Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs), Computer Vision, and Generative AI across cloud, devices, and robotics. This role is pivotal in advancing technologies that enhance law enforcement and public safety solutions.
The successful candidate will lead key technical areas within Axon's AI product portfolio, providing technical leadership to junior scientists and guiding the transition of research concepts into impactful product features. Responsibilities include researching and developing cutting-edge techniques in LLMs, MLLMs, GenAI, and Computer Vision; designing and implementing efficient and scalable models for multimodal data analysis; and optimizing AI models for performance and energy efficiency on resource-constrained devices. Collaboration with machine learning engineers, firmware, and hardware engineers to leverage hardware accelerators and optimize algorithms for specific architectures is also essential.
Candidates must possess a PhD in Computer Science or a related field, with a focus on LLMs, MLLMs, Computer Vision, or GenAI, and have over 8 years of relevant experience. A proven track record of research excellence, demonstrated through publications in top-tier conferences or journals, is required. Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C/C++, experience with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch, and familiarity with robotic operating systems are essential. The role demands excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
