Senior Machine Vision Engineer, Manufacturing Automation
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Machine Vision Engineer to join their Manufacturing Automation team in Costa Mesa, California. This team is responsible for designing, integrating, and deploying automated manufacturing systems across Anduril's factories, aiming to define production automation on a national scale.
The role involves developing and implementing machine vision systems for automation, quality inspection, defect detection, and process monitoring. Responsibilities include specifying, procuring, validating, and sustaining vision system components such as cameras, lenses, lighting, controllers, and software. The engineer will oversee the installation, validation, and commissioning of vision systems across multiple product lines and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate high-precision inspection systems into production lines and automation systems. Additionally, the role includes leading root cause and corrective action efforts on vision systems and process failures, as well as training production staff on the operation and maintenance of vision systems.
Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, along with at least four years of experience in developing and maintaining vision systems in a manufacturing environment. Required skills include experience with vision system platforms such as Cognex, Keyence, iRVision, or Halcon, proficiency in programming languages like Python, C++, or OpenCV, a strong understanding of image processing algorithms, optics, and lighting principles, and hands-on experience with industrial automation systems including PLC and robot integration. Familiarity with advanced defect detection techniques, AI-based vision systems, and statistical process control methodologies is also essential.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $146,000 to $194,000 USD, with actual offers varying based on factors such as work experience, education, and critical skills.
