Senior Manager, Platform Engineering
Marqeta is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Platform Engineering to lead our infrastructure software engineering team responsible for Marqeta's Kubernetes-based compute platform. This is a critical technical leadership role at the heart of our infrastructure, supporting the applications that process millions of payment transactions with ultra-high availability requirements.
In this role, you will drive platform modernization, cost optimization, and operational excellence while leading a team of infrastructure software engineers who build and maintain the foundational systems that enable Marqeta's engineering organization to ship quickly and reliably. Key responsibilities include defining and executing the technical roadmap for Marqeta's Kubernetes compute platform, developing and implementing strategies to optimize Kubernetes infrastructure costs, and ensuring ultra-high availability of the production Kubernetes platform supporting payment processing workloads.
The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or DevOps roles, with 5+ years of people management experience leading technical teams through complex initiatives. Deep expertise with Kubernetes in production environments at scale, extensive cloud fundamental knowledge (AWS preferred), and a proven track record of Kubernetes cost optimization and resource efficiency improvements are essential.
Marqeta offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $200,500 - $250,600 for National locations and $210,200 - $262,800 for Premium locations.
