Senior Manager, Project Development, WECC
Aypa Power is seeking a Senior Manager of Project Development to lead the development of stand-alone utility-scale energy storage and renewable hybrid projects within the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) market. This high-visibility role involves managing projects from market assessment through site development to financial close, contributing to the company's established portfolio and regional expansion efforts.
The Senior Manager will coordinate project development activities by collaborating with internal and external experts to achieve project objectives. Responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders such as landowners, permitting authorities, and utilities; leading project reporting on status, risk mitigation, and financial performance; sourcing and negotiating with consultants for development studies; supporting the Commercial team in project marketing and solicitation; conducting due diligence for development and project acquisitions; and monitoring regulatory and policy changes to inform project strategies.
Candidates should possess a bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, Finance, Environmental Science, or a related field, with an MBA being a strong plus. A minimum of six years of experience in utility-scale renewable energy project development is required. The role demands strong project management skills, the ability to manage multiple large teams concurrently, and proficiency in assessing and mitigating project and contractual risks. Knowledge of the WECC market, including its legal, regulatory, and environmental aspects, is essential, along with experience using MS Office tools such as Teams, Project, PowerPoint, and Excel.
