Senior Product Design Engineer

Formlabs is seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer to join their dynamic R&D team in Somerville, MA. This role involves collaborating with top-tier mechatronics, software, and systems engineers to develop innovative 3D printing technologies that empower users to bring their ideas to life.

The Senior Product Design Engineer will be responsible for researching, developing, and implementing new products. This includes innovating new methodologies, creating functional prototypes, and partnering with design teams to advance 3D printing technology. The role requires a systems-thinking approach, the ability to test new ideas, and collaboration with design engineers to transition designs into manufacturing.

Candidates should have over 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanism and mechatronic product design, including contributions to system architecture. Experience with cross-disciplinary hardware prototyping, sensor and actuator control, and strong analytical skills are essential. Knowledge of material properties, high-volume manufacturing techniques, and statistical tolerance analysis for precision mechanical design is also required.
