Senior Python Core Engineer

Chime is seeking a Senior Python Core Engineer to join the Languages & Frameworks team within Engineering Services. This role focuses on standardizing and strengthening Chime's Python ecosystem, which is foundational to the company's data engineering, analytics, machine learning, and AI initiatives. The engineer will lead efforts to manage Python releases, packaging, base images, and shared libraries to enhance security, reduce redundancy, and improve build reliability.

Key responsibilities include owning the lifecycle of Python versions, defining best practices, improving build and dependency workflows, and maintaining critical internal Python libraries. The engineer will collaborate closely with platform teams, CI/CD stakeholders, and data/ML organizations to drive improvements that make Python development faster, safer, and more scalable.

Candidates should have over five years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in Python production environments. Strong experience with Python build tooling, containerized environments, and build systems is essential. The role requires a security- and reliability-first mindset, cross-functional collaboration skills, and the ability to operate with ambiguous requirements. Experience in data engineering and machine learning is a plus.

The base salary for this position ranges from $187,000 to $259,000, with eligibility for bonuses, competitive equity packages, and comprehensive benefits. The actual salary offered may vary based on location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
