Software Engineer, Machine Learning Platform
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Machine Learning Platform team at Chime, you will architect and lead the development of scalable machine learning infrastructure. This infrastructure is pivotal in combating fraud, personalizing user experiences, and enabling intelligent decision-making across Chime's services. Your role will be instrumental in defining foundational systems that support model training, real-time inference, and comprehensive observability at scale.
In this position, you will design and scale machine learning infrastructure for both real-time and batch inference. You will lead architectural decisions for feature pipelines, model training, deployment, and monitoring systems. Additionally, you will drive platform reliability and observability, including setting service level objectives, creating dependency graphs, and implementing drift detection mechanisms. Collaborating with Data Science, Risk, and Product teams, you will ensure that machine learning solutions are robust, compliant, and performant.
The ideal candidate will have over seven years of experience in backend or machine learning infrastructure roles, with at least five years dedicated to building scalable systems using AWS services such as SageMaker, Lambda, S3, and Kinesis. Proficiency in programming languages like Python or Golang is essential, along with a deep understanding of distributed systems. Experience with MLOps and machine learning lifecycle tools, including MLflow and feature stores, is also required. Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional initiatives and mentoring engineers is highly valued.
The base salary for this role ranges from $198,990 to $281,900 annually, depending on location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
