Software Engineer, Deposits & Insights
The Deposit & Insights team at Chime is seeking a skilled backend engineer to join their team. This role focuses on leveraging individualized spending insights and member behavior to provide tools that enable safe spending. The position involves cross-functional collaboration, rapid experimentation, and iterative solution development to optimize conversion points.
Key responsibilities include driving technical design and architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and fostering cross-functional collaboration. The engineer will lead and contribute to multiple projects, build and maintain robust, low-latency APIs and backend services, and become a domain expert in platform architecture. Additionally, the role involves partnering with data engineers, analysts, and product managers to ship impactful features, improving platform reliability and performance, and evolving experimentation and ML integration capabilities. Participation in an on-call rotation is also required.
Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience developing software in a production environment at scale, prior experience as a technical lead on complex projects, and proven experience with Ruby on Rails or comparable frameworks. Experience with transactional databases and caching systems, a deep understanding of architectural patterns for large-scale web applications, and a commitment to mentoring engineers are essential. An appreciation for maintainable and well-tested code, curiosity about system architectures, and experience in fast-paced or early-stage environments are also desirable.
The base salary for this role ranges from $133,000 to $184,000, with full-time employees also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
