The Senior SCADA Engineer at Aypa Power will provide advanced technical leadership and hands-on support for SCADA, controls, and Operational Technology (OT) systems across a fleet of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage (BESS) and solar sites. This role is integral to ensuring high availability, safe remote operability, accurate telemetry, and reliable integration with Energy Management Systems (EMS), Automatic Generation Control (AGC), and market interfaces. As a key operational partner, the engineer will collaborate closely with site operations, performance engineering, and network/IT teams.

Key responsibilities include leading real-time troubleshooting of SCADA servers, gateways, historians, alarms, site controllers, Battery Management System (BMS) interfaces, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Remote Terminal Unit (RTU), Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) communications, and OT networking components. The engineer will own incident coordination with internal operations, performance, IT, and cybersecurity teams, as well as external Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and integrators. Ensuring reliable telemetry and control required for utility and Independent System Operator (ISO) operations, including monitoring metrics such as megawatts/megawatt-hours, state of charge, availability, breaker status, alarms, and limits, is a critical aspect of the role.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in SCADA, controls, or OT operations, preferably in power generation, renewables, or BESS. Strong troubleshooting skills across distributed OT systems and industrial networks are essential. Preferred qualifications include experience with BESS controllers, inverters, BMS, and plant controllers; strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT, SQL; experience with platforms like Ignition, SEL RTAC, or N3uron; scripting or automation experience in Python, PowerShell, or Bash; and experience working with different ISOs such as CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, etc.
