Senior Site Reliability Engineer I
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer I at Axon, you will be a key member of the APX SRE CloudOps team, responsible for designing and building the cloud infrastructure and automation platforms that support Axon's product engineering teams. Axon is dedicated to protecting life through its ecosystem of devices and cloud software, addressing critical safety and justice issues. This role is based in Seattle, Washington, and follows a hybrid schedule, emphasizing in-person collaboration to foster innovation and teamwork.
In this position, you will design and implement services, APIs, and automation tools to enhance cloud infrastructure reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency. Your responsibilities include writing production-quality code in languages such as Go and Python, building foundational platforms that enable rapid and secure service provisioning, and architecting cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS, including large-scale Kubernetes platforms. Additionally, you will participate in on-call rotations and incident response, using operational experience to drive reliability improvements and inform platform investments.
The ideal candidate will have over eight years of experience in software engineering, cloud infrastructure, or site reliability engineering. Required qualifications include proficiency in managed languages like Go, Python, Java, or C#, experience designing and operating cloud platforms at scale across Azure and AWS, and expertise in architecting and operating Kubernetes platforms in production environments. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK, as well as experience with CI/CD platforms and observability tools, is also essential. A builder-operator mindset with proven production ownership and experience mentoring engineers are highly valued.
