Senior Software Engineer - Backend Java

Cermati is a financial technology startup based in Indonesia, dedicated to simplifying the process of finding and applying for financial products by bringing everything online. The company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Backend Java to lead the technical roadmap for the data platform team, which comprises 5-10 talented but potentially inexperienced members.

In this role, the engineer will be responsible for defining the technical roadmap for upcoming months, mentoring junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing on coding and design best practices, coding and designing systems for new features and bug fixes, and ensuring operational excellence by monitoring the production system.

The ideal candidate must have at least 6 years of hands-on experience in Java within enterprise projects, including knowledge of dependency injection, unit testing frameworks, Java best practices, and multi-threaded programming. A strong working knowledge of Linux-based systems and experience with SQL and PostgreSQL databases are also required. Preferred qualifications include experience with Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform and its data analytics products like BigQuery, previous experience working in a data platform team, and familiarity with Apache Flink.
