Chime is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Data Engineering team in San Francisco, CA. This team is pivotal in building scalable data artifacts and insights that enable accurate, governed, data-driven decision-making across the company. As a core member, you will have the opportunity to develop scalable data pipelines and frameworks, contributing to workflows that could set new standards in the fintech industry.

In this role, you will be a hands-on data engineer responsible for building, scaling, and optimizing ETL pipelines. You will design data schemas capable of handling tenfold data growth and take ownership of all aspects of data, including quality, governance, schema design, and security. Developing scalable data architecture and standardized data models to enable self-serve data insights using AI will also be a key part of your responsibilities. Ensuring that ETL workflows meet data quality and availability requirements and collaborating closely with partner teams such as Data Science, Analytics, and DevOps are essential aspects of the role.

To thrive in this position, you should have over five years of experience transforming data into governed and lucid datasets, building and deploying production-quality data pipelines, and working with stakeholders to provide business insights. Proficiency in SQL, Spark, AWS Glue, EMR, Airflow, and Python is required, along with at least three years of hands-on experience with MPP database systems like Snowflake, AWS Redshift, or Teradata. A proven track record of successful partnerships with Analytics, Data Science, and DevOps teams, as well as an understanding of key metrics for data pipelines and the ability to build solutions that provide visibility to partner teams, are also important. Participation in an on-call rotation, which may include responding to incidents outside of regular working hours, is expected.

The base salary for this role ranges from $164,000 to $227,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and comprehensive benefits. Chime offers a thoughtful hybrid work policy, combining in-office days with remote work options, and provides in-office perks such as backup care for children, elders, and pets, as well as a subsidized commuter benefit. Additional benefits include a 401k match, generous vacation policy, company-wide paid days off, and access to wellness programs and family planning tools.

Chime is a financial technology company dedicated to helping individuals achieve financial progress through user-friendly tools and intuitive platforms. The company fosters a culture of problem-solving, innovation, and collaboration, encouraging employees to take ownership of their work and contribute to the mission of empowering everyday Americans. Joining Chime offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that values bold ideas, diverse perspectives, and a commitment to integrity in all aspects of the business.
