Senior Software Engineer (Golang, Kubernetes) - Cloud Compute Team (open to remote across ANZ)
As a Senior Software Engineer within the Cloud Compute team at Canva, you will be instrumental in extending and operating foundational Kubernetes infrastructure that supports Canva's services. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely across Australia and New Zealand, aligning with Canva's commitment to providing a dynamic and adaptable work environment.
Your primary responsibilities will include designing, building, and operating Kubernetes infrastructure across multiple cloud providers. You will develop and maintain automation for cluster lifecycle management, node provisioning, and provider onboarding. Additionally, you will create platform tooling and abstractions that enable other Canva engineers to deploy and scale workloads efficiently, without needing to understand the underlying infrastructure. Investigating and resolving system performance and reliability issues across the compute stack will also be a key part of your day-to-day work.
The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge in Computer Engineering or Science fundamentals, particularly relating to concurrency, multithreading, data structures, architecture, and various design patterns. Experience as a Senior Software Engineer building platform or infrastructure products in Golang is essential. You should have substantial experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production at scale and a deep understanding of Linux systems, including kernel, networking, performance troubleshooting, and OS image management. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code practices, GitOps workflows, cloud networking, security fundamentals, and observability systems is also required. A methodical approach to debugging complex distributed systems and adaptability across different cloud providers are important. Experience using generative AI tools in your engineering workflow is considered advantageous.
