Axon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to join the Discovery Squad within the Axon Records team. This role focuses on developing a high-performance, scalable search and insights platform to assist law enforcement officers in efficiently accessing accurate and relevant information. Axon is dedicated to protecting life by providing innovative solutions that enhance public safety and streamline operations for first responders.

In this position, the engineer will lead architecture design reviews, set high technical standards through code and design evaluations, and mentor fellow engineers. Collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams is essential to create integrated solutions that meet customer needs. The role also involves improving engineering processes, including long-term planning, sprint management, and stand-ups, while building services that prioritize availability and low latency.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with over 10 years of professional software development experience. Experience in designing and delivering highly available, scalable cloud-based systems is required. Proficiency in backend services using languages such as Java, Scala, Go, or C# is necessary, as well as experience with search engine technologies like ElasticSearch. Familiarity with real-time streaming event logs or messaging technologies, such as Kafka or ActiveMQ, and working with SQL or NoSQL data stores is also expected. Experience with Golang, GraphQL, and TypeScript is considered a plus.
