Senior Software Engineer I, (Discovery)
Axon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to join the Discovery Squad within the Axon Records team. This role focuses on developing a high-performance, scalable search and insights platform to assist law enforcement officers in efficiently locating and analyzing critical information. The position is based in either Seattle, Washington, or Boston, Massachusetts, and follows a hybrid work schedule, emphasizing in-person collaboration from Tuesday through Friday, with remote work flexibility on Mondays.
In this role, you will lead engineering architecture design reviews, set high technical standards through code and architecture evaluations, and mentor and grow fellow engineers. You will collaborate across teams with Product, Design, and Engineering to create integrated solutions that delight our customers. Additionally, you will improve our engineering processes, including long-term planning, sprint planning, and stand-ups, and build services that adhere to our high standards for availability and latency in this mission-critical space. You will also work with the latest open-source technologies.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with over 10 years of professional software development experience. Experience in designing and delivering highly-available, scalable cloud-based systems is essential. Proficiency in backend services using languages such as Java, Scala, Go, C#, or similar is required. Experience with ElasticSearch or other search engine technologies, real-time streaming event log or messaging technologies like Kafka or ActiveMQ, and working with SQL or NoSQL data stores is also necessary. Experience with Golang, GraphQL, and TypeScript programming is a plus.
