Axon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to join our TASER Data Science team, focusing on developing data-driven training systems for law enforcement agencies. Our mission is to enhance officer performance and safety by transforming real-world data into actionable insights. This role is integral to advancing Axon's goal of reducing fatal officer-involved shootings by 50% over the next decade.

In this position, you will be responsible for building and deploying data products such as dashboards, metrics systems, and recommendation tools that inform critical decisions. You will lead the transition of machine learning models from research to production, ensuring they are reliable, monitored, and versioned appropriately. Additionally, you will develop and maintain data pipelines that process TASER device telemetry, delivering analytics to both internal stakeholders and external agencies. Setting the technical direction for the team's engineering practices and working across the full stack—from device-side data ingestion to user-facing analytics—are key aspects of this role.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in writing high-quality, production-level Python code that is strongly typed and comprehensively tested. You should be proactive in identifying and addressing critical technical tasks, capable of influencing technical roadmaps, and comfortable working with evolving requirements. Experience with real-world, unstructured data such as device logs and event streams is also important.

We are committed to fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment that supports professional growth and development.

Joining Axon means becoming part of a mission-driven team dedicated to protecting life through technological innovation. We value diverse perspectives and are committed to building an inclusive culture where every team member can thrive. This role provides the opportunity to make a significant impact on public safety and contribute to meaningful change in law enforcement practices.
