Senior Software Engineer - Networking
Canva is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Networking team within the Core Infrastructure Group. This team is responsible for workload identity, application networking, connectivity, Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), and internal Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). The role focuses on designing, building, and operating a global network spanning multiple infrastructure providers, as well as developing software for infrastructure automation across these providers. The position offers flexibility in work location, with options to work from Canva's flagship campus in Sydney, other Australian campuses, or remotely.
Key responsibilities include designing, building, and operating a network that spans multiple global infrastructure providers, developing software for infrastructure automation, and being on-call to drive operational excellence. The role also involves collaborating with stakeholders across Security, Product, and other Platform teams to understand their needs and contribute to the development of Canva’s platform products.
The ideal candidate will have strong software and networking engineering experience with languages such as Golang, Python, or Java. A solid understanding of networking, including routing protocols, network architecture, Linux networking concepts (e.g., nftables, FRR), and cloud networking in providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure, is essential. Experience in deploying and operating networks with cloud or Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) providers, or operating networks in data center, bare metal, or telecommunications environments, is required. Additionally, experience with infrastructure platforms, infrastructure automation systems, control loop architectures, and declarative configuration management is highly valued.
