KoBold Metals is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in scientific computing to join our dynamic team. As a leader in AI-driven mineral exploration, KoBold integrates advanced machine learning models with geoscientific data to discover critical materials essential for the energy transition. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with top-tier data scientists and geologists in a mission-driven environment focused on sustainable resource discovery.

In this position, you will architect, implement, and maintain foundational scientific computing libraries integral to our mineral exploration analyses. Your responsibilities will include developing tools to accelerate machine learning progress, such as enabling rapid prototyping in Jupyter notebooks, building experimentation and simulation frameworks, and transforming successful research into robust, scalable machine learning pipelines. Additionally, you will collaborate with data scientists to build models that make statistically valid predictions about the locations of economically viable ore deposits.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as a software engineer, data scientist, or machine learning engineer, with a proven track record of delivering production-quality data processing solutions. Proficiency in Python, particularly with array-based packages like xarray and numpy, is essential. A strong understanding of machine learning concepts, including statistical, traditional, and deep-learning approaches, is required. Experience with measured scientific data, data visualization for domain experts, and MLops practices for building robust machine learning systems is highly desirable.

KoBold Metals offers a competitive salary range of $170,000 to $215,000 per year, commensurate with experience. As a remote-first company, we provide flexibility in work location, allowing candidates to be based anywhere in the United States or Canada. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in these countries.

Joining KoBold means becoming part of a fast-growing, early-stage company that values intellectual curiosity, collaboration, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. We are committed to fostering a dynamic work environment where team members are encouraged to take ownership of projects and contribute to our mission of transforming mineral exploration through technology.
