Axon is seeking a Senior System Engineer I to join our team in Kassel, Germany, focusing on the development of next-generation RF sensor products. This role involves managing the hardware lifecycle for RF-based counter-drone detection systems, collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and certification teams. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to early technical decisions, including concept definition and component selection, within a company dedicated to protecting life through innovative technology solutions.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle of RF sensor hardware, from early prototypes to production ramp-up and sustaining support. The role involves supporting early-phase development through concept definition and component selection for RF, compute, power, and interface components. Additionally, the engineer will drive manufacturing readiness by focusing on design for manufacturing and testing, pilot builds, production bring-up, and continuous improvement. Collaboration with production, suppliers, and quality teams is essential to resolve production issues, enhance yield, and implement product changes. The position also requires supporting compliance and certification activities, such as RED/FCC, including test planning, lab coordination, technical documentation, and follow-ups. Leading system-level integration across RF subsystems, mechanical and electrical interfaces, and supporting compute and power elements is also a key aspect of the role.

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field, with experience managing hardware products throughout their lifecycle, including manufacturing introduction and sustaining engineering. A solid systems-level understanding of RF products, along with hands-on validation and troubleshooting skills, is essential. Experience in supporting concept development and making pragmatic component choices for production-ready hardware is highly valued. Exposure to regulatory compliance and certification processes, such as RED/FCC, is considered a strong plus. Strong cross-functional communication skills and a practical, solution-oriented mindset are also important for success in this role.

This position is based in Kassel, Germany, and follows a hybrid work schedule, with in-person collaboration required from Tuesday through Friday and the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays. Axon fosters an in-office culture designed to promote meaningful teamwork, mentorship, and shared success. The company is committed to building diverse teams that reflect the communities it serves and encourages candidates who are excited about the mission to protect life to apply, even if their experience does not align perfectly with every qualification listed.
