Senior Systems Safety Engineer, Omen
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Systems Safety Engineer to join the Omen team at our Costa Mesa headquarters. Omen is an autonomous air vehicle that combines the endurance and payload capacity of larger aircraft into a novel, runway-independent Group 3 platform. This role focuses on the System Safety and Airworthiness aspects of new aircraft development within a high-ownership culture, enabling rapid design and deployment cycles.
The Senior Systems Safety Engineer will develop and implement tailored System Safety approaches aligned with MIL-STD-882E and end-user requirements. Responsibilities include engaging with customers and regulatory authorities to identify appropriate Airworthiness frameworks, developing Airworthiness plans and documentation, and collaborating with design teams to implement safety best practices. The role also involves conducting complex safety analyses, managing hazard tracking databases, and supporting System Design Reviews and Safety Review Boards.
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline, along with over 10 years of experience as a Systems Safety Engineer focused on Airworthiness activities. Required qualifications include experience with safety-critical hardware and software systems in the Defense or Aerospace industries, extensive knowledge of relevant safety standards such as MIL-STD-882E and AC 23-1309-1E, and a strong background in safety analysis techniques including FTA, FHA, SCFTA, and FMECA. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance in the United States, United Kingdom, or Australia is also necessary.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $191,000 to $253,000 USD, along with highly competitive equity grants.
