Senior Technical Account Manager, Cash App Pay & Afterpay
Block is seeking a Senior Technical Account Manager to support Cash App Pay and Afterpay merchants across North America. This role involves serving as a trusted technical partner to major merchants, ensuring their health and growth through proactive technical engagement. The position sits at the intersection of product, engineering, solutions engineering, go-to-market, and merchant success teams, combining deep product and technical expertise with commercial acumen to drive merchant growth and retention.
Key responsibilities include identifying and acting on post-sales growth opportunities within the merchant portfolio, partnering with Account Management to increase Gross Payment Volume (GPV) and feature adoption. The role also involves providing education to merchants and internal teams on Cash App Pay and Afterpay features, delivering quarterly technical reviews, and ensuring seamless pre-sales to post-sales handoffs in collaboration with Solutions Engineering. Additionally, the Senior Technical Account Manager will work cross-functionally to provide technical and operational solutions that enhance the merchant experience, represent the merchant voice to Product and Engineering teams, and proactively manage new product life cycles to facilitate merchant adoption.
The ideal candidate will have senior-level experience in account management, customer success, or a client-facing technical role within payments, fintech, or e-commerce. Hands-on technical experience in web development, including proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and excellent communication skills are also required. Experience with integration health monitoring, root-cause analysis, and implementing preventative measures is highly desirable.
Block offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $171,800 to $236,200 USD, depending on location and experience.
