Senior Technical Writer
LaunchDarkly is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to join their dynamic documentation team within the Technology organization, collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and UX teams. This fully remote role focuses on supporting the AI Configs product, as well as contributing to SDKs, API documentation, and other technical content. The position reports directly to the technical writing manager and offers opportunities for occasional travel to the San Francisco Bay Area or other U.S. locations for team events.
The Senior Technical Writer will be responsible for writing, editing, maintaining, and improving LaunchDarkly's product, API, and SDK documentation. This includes creating procedure-based feature documentation, use-case-driven narrative guides, and technical topics sourced from engineering contributors. The role involves working with product managers, developers, and designers to document new features, collaborating with the docs team to plan and implement content improvements, and addressing customer pain points through documentation updates.
Candidates must possess strong writing and editing skills, with at least 5 years of technical writing experience or a degree in a technical field. A solid technical background, possibly as a software developer, is essential. The ability to distill technical and UX requirements into documentation plans, manage documentation projects from kickoff to publication, and balance multiple priorities is required. Proficiency with Markdown and/or HTML, Git, GitHub, and common CI/CD tools is necessary. Familiarity with AI-based code and content management tools, such as Copilot, Cursor, and Claude Code, is a plus, as is proficiency in any programming language.
Compensation for this role varies based on geographic location. For Zone 1 (San Francisco/Bay Area, NYC Metropolitan Area, Boston, Seattle), the salary range is $136,500 - $187,660. For Zone 2 (Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago), the range is $122,800 - $168,850. For Zone 3 (all other U.S. locations), the range is $116,000 - $159,500.
