Senior Thermal Engineer- Air Vehicles

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Thermal Engineer to join their Thermal Engineering team in Costa Mesa, California. This team is integral to the company's mission of transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology, focusing on the performance and reliability of defense technologies.

In this role, the engineer will own the thermal design and analysis of drones, aircraft, or missiles. Responsibilities include executing hand calculations, developing first-order models using MATLAB or Python, defining thermal architectures to withstand rugged environments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to document power dissipations under various operating modes. The engineer will also develop and maintain thermal FEA/CFD models, define design limits, and execute prototype builds and tests to verify thermal designs.

Candidates must possess a Master's degree or higher in engineering or applied physics with a focus on heat transfer and fluid dynamics. A minimum of five years of experience designing thermal systems for integrated hardware products is required, along with practical experience in both passive and active thermal management systems. Proficiency in thermal FEA tools such as STAR-CCM+, ANSYS, Icepak, or Flotherm, as well as CAD experience with SolidWorks or Siemens NX, is essential. The ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance is also necessary.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $146,000 to $194,000 annually, with highly competitive equity grants included in the compensation package.
