Senior Underground Mine Engineer
The Senior Underground Mine Engineer at KoBold Metals will lead the mine design efforts for the Mingomba project, focusing on pre-feasibility and feasibility engineering studies. This role involves identifying, designing, and executing mining engineering programs to maximize the safety, feasibility, and value of future mining operations. The engineer will collaborate closely with geoscientists, data scientists, and software engineers to advance exploration practices and develop innovative data collection and monitoring programs.
Key responsibilities include performing strategic mine design and engineering analyses, such as mine design sequencing and scheduling using the Deswik software suite. The engineer will conduct detailed designs of the Mingomba underground mine, perform engineering trade-off studies, cost estimations, and economic analyses of alternatives. Additionally, the role involves preparing technical documents, providing feedback to geological and geotechnical modeling, supporting both surface and underground facilities engineering, and mentoring junior staff.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related discipline, with a minimum of 7 years of relevant post-qualification experience emphasizing underground mine planning, design, and scheduling. Preferred qualifications include EIZ Certification and experience working with multiple consultants within the mining industry. Strong technical writing skills, organizational abilities, and proficiency in mine planning software packages such as MineScape, MineSight 3D, Vulcan, Surpac, Deswik, Datamine, Gemcom, Mine 2-4D, and EPS are essential. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, along with a commitment to workplace safety and ethical decision-making, are also required.
