The Silicon Product and Test Engineer at Block's Proto division plays a pivotal role in advancing the company's bitcoin mining initiatives. Proto is dedicated to accelerating the transition to an open economy by developing products like Bitkey, a self-custody bitcoin wallet, and innovative hardware and software solutions for decentralized bitcoin mining. This position is integral to the Bitcoin Products team, which focuses on product strategy, software, firmware, and custom silicon development.

In this role, the engineer will oversee the post-silicon productization of bitcoin mining ASICs, managing processes from silicon bring-up to high-volume manufacturing. Key responsibilities include developing and optimizing wafer sort and final test screening strategies to enhance power, performance, yield, quality, and DPPM. The engineer will also be responsible for creating, debugging, and maintaining ATE test programs for advanced-node ASICs, defining and executing characterization plans across various conditions, and performing silicon data analysis to improve system-level performance. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including ASIC Design, ATE, Bench, Systems, Reliability, Foundry, and OSAT partners, is essential to drive yield optimization and process tuning.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with 5–10 years of experience in Product Engineering, Test Engineering, Silicon Validation, or Post-Silicon Engineering within fabless or semiconductor environments. A strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, including wafer sort, final test, qualification, and high-volume manufacturing, is required. Experience with silicon bring-up, characterization, yield analysis, and product qualification for advanced-node ASICs or SoCs is essential. Proficiency with ATE platforms such as Advantest 93K or Chroma, and the ability to develop or debug ATE test programs and production screening methodologies, are also necessary. Strong statistical data analysis and debugging skills using tools like JMP or Python, along with experience in DOE planning, silicon correlation, and yield optimization methodologies, are important. The role demands effective collaboration across various teams and the ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with a high degree of ownership.
