Software Engineer
Beacon Software is seeking a versatile Software Engineer to drive technical innovation and accelerate growth across its diverse portfolio of software companies. This role involves close collaboration with product, design, and leadership teams within various portfolio companies to address high-impact challenges across multiple architectures, tech stacks, and industries. The position offers an opportunity to design and execute large-scale software modernization efforts, build AI-powered features, and reimagine product experiences, directly influencing revenue, customer experience, product vision, and technical direction.
Key responsibilities include deploying into Beacon's portfolio companies to identify, design, and implement impactful technical initiatives. The engineer will analyze existing codebases to uncover value creation opportunities and strategies for reducing technical debt. Tasks involve refactoring, modernizing, and scaling existing systems using current best practices and frameworks, as well as building AI-powered features and products that drive measurable business growth. The role also encompasses architecting scalable backend and API services, developing modern, high-performance frontends, and collaborating with product and business leaders to translate commercial goals into technical roadmaps.
The ideal candidate possesses over five years of experience as a full-stack or backend engineer, preferably in startup or high-growth environments. A strong foundation in software engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, and deployment, is essential. Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages, such as Python, Go, TypeScript, or Ruby, is required, along with experience in cloud infrastructure and modern DevOps practices. The candidate should be comfortable working across diverse architectures, from monoliths to microservices, and have familiarity with AI integration, large language models, and data-driven applications. Strong systems-thinking, a bias for simplicity, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative spirit are also important.
