Software Engineer, Credit Line

Chime is seeking a backend engineer to join the SpotMe team, which provides members with essential liquidity to cover everyday expenses during financial shortfalls. This role offers the opportunity to work on a high-impact feature that is a key reason members recommend Chime. The engineer will design, develop, test, and scale backend APIs and services for new and existing product features. Collaboration with mobile, product, design, risk, and data partners is essential to understand member pain points and create reliable solutions. The role also involves identifying opportunities to improve system reliability and scalability, participating in code reviews, on-call rotations, and incident follow-ups to enhance quality and operational excellence.

Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience developing software in a production environment at scale, with proven expertise in Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks. Experience with transactional databases, caching systems, and architectural patterns of large-scale web applications is required. A collaborative, low-ego working style, a strong product and member mindset, and a commitment to maintainable, well-tested code are essential.

The base salary for this role ranges from $133,000 to $184,000, depending on location, skills, qualifications, and experience. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits.
