As a Senior Advanced Development Engineer II on Axon's New Ventures team, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary prototype efforts with electrical engineering at the core. You will transform ambiguous, high-risk ideas into concrete systems and experiments that inform Axon's investment decisions. This role is ideal for a senior engineer with deep electrical expertise who thrives beyond traditional boundaries, shaping system architecture and influencing leadership through hands-on prototyping and clear technical judgment.

Key responsibilities include leading the development of multi-disciplinary prototypes where electrical engineering is a primary driver of feasibility and risk. You will architect and build electrical systems for exploratory hardware concepts, integrating designs with mechanical systems and software to deliver cohesive prototypes. Additionally, you will navigate high ambiguity, identifying experiments to reduce technical and business uncertainty, and anticipate system-level risks, proposing mitigation strategies early.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with over 8 years of experience designing, building, and debugging electrical systems for complex hardware. You should possess primary depth in electrical engineering areas such as power systems, sensing, signal integrity, controls, or system-level electrical architecture. Demonstrated hands-on experience in at least one secondary discipline, such as mechanical engineering or embedded systems, is also required. Strong communication skills and alignment with Axon's values, including ownership, curiosity, and a commitment to protecting life, are essential.
