Sr. Electrical Engineer (PCBs/Sensors/Actuators)
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team in Costa Mesa, California. This role focuses on the development of complex systems, including optical systems, batteries, mechanisms, control systems, and sensors. The position offers significant ownership and collaboration opportunities within a multidisciplinary environment, with potential for leadership growth.
Key responsibilities include rapidly evaluating engineering concepts across various fields, managing vendor relationships, conducting trade studies and physics-based analyses, and overseeing the design, implementation, and testing of complex electro-mechanical systems. The role also involves leading design reviews, performing analyses, visiting vendors, defining and executing hardware test plans, building prototypes, analyzing failures, and transitioning successful projects into production. Supporting critical hardware demonstrations and traveling to test sites as needed are also part of the job.
Candidates should have at least 5 years of professional electrical design experience, including immersive technical projects and demonstrated leadership skills. Proficiency in PCB design using ECAD tools like Altium or KiCAD, hands-on prototyping skills, and experience with controls, actuation, robotics, or motor/servo drive systems are essential. Familiarity with microcontrollers, power conversion, system integration, and the ability to interpret schematics and wiring diagrams are also required. A bachelor's, master's, or PhD in an engineering field, or equivalent work experience, is necessary, along with eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include experience in bare-metal microcontroller design, leadership and interpersonal skills, designing for rugged environments, developing various electronic hardware products, characterizing circuits, familiarity with wireless communication protocols, and experience with microcontroller wired communication protocols. Practical experience with electrical engineering tools like oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and multimeters is also advantageous.
The salary range for this position is $142,000 to $213,000 annually, with actual offers varying based on factors such as experience, education, and critical skills. Competitive equity grants are included in most full-time offers.
