Sr. Networking Software Engineer I
Axon is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join the Cloud Networking & Mesh team within the APX platform engineering organization. This role focuses on developing and maintaining mission-critical, cloud-native services that ensure high-quality and reliable networking solutions for Axon's global customer base. The position is based in Seattle, Washington, and follows a hybrid work schedule, emphasizing in-person collaboration from Tuesday through Friday, with remote work flexibility on Mondays.
In this role, the engineer will be responsible for managing Kubernetes networking, service mesh technologies such as Istio and Envoy, ingress and gateway configurations, TLS and certificate automation, DNS management, and public-edge routing. Key responsibilities include advancing Axon's use of service mesh patterns, developing features, enhancing production systems, and improving deployment processes. The engineer will also automate operations to maintain high availability, targeting four-nines-class reliability for critical components.
The ideal candidate will have at least six years of experience working on globally distributed, high-volume production systems. They should possess expertise in operating critical components or services in Kubernetes clusters, infrastructure-as-code and automated delivery on public cloud platforms, and production software development in languages such as Python, Go, or Java. Strong problem-solving skills in debugging cloud-native distributed systems and familiarity with a GitOps-style approach to software and infrastructure delivery are also essential.
