Staff Embedded Software Engineer (Bare Metal), Intelligence Systems
Anduril Industries is seeking a Staff Embedded Software Engineer to join its Intelligence Systems team in Reston, Virginia. This role involves developing low-level bare-metal infrastructure code and building software ecosystems for next-generation hardware platforms powered by advanced System-on-Chip devices. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge defense technology solutions that enhance U.S. and allied military capabilities.
Key responsibilities include designing and developing rigorously tested and validated bare-metal infrastructure code, leading technical initiatives, and quickly learning new software technologies. The engineer will perform board bring-up on embedded ARM boards, customize vendor Board Support Packages for ARM-based SoC platforms, secure embedded system devices, and develop automated tests to ensure proper functionality of embedded systems.
Candidates must have over 12 years of software development experience, with at least 7 years focused on bare-metal and driver development. Proficiency in Rust, C, C++, or ARMv7/ARMv8 assembly is required, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields. An active U.S. Secret security clearance is mandatory.
Preferred qualifications include experience developing operating systems or portions thereof, a strong focus on security, and familiarity with complex SoCs. Additional desirable skills encompass implementing Control Flow Integrity, working with ISRs, MMUs, timers, health tests, entropy, and standard I/O interfaces such as UART, I2C, SPI, and eMMC.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $220,000 to $292,000, along with highly competitive equity grants.
